Perseverance Is Difficult Until You Make It Habitual

I realize that this is a strange topic to find on a blog about technology, but perseverance is necessary with anything. You need to have a dream that you absolutely have to bring to fruition. More than you have a need for any source of fun. You have to be willing to spend long nights learning and catching up on the latest tech right after you spent 10 hours at your day job. You need to be voraciously curious about how things operate. I’ll go further into these things throughout this article.

I personally am focusing solely on the word perseverance this whole year as my New Year’s resolution. So far I’m doing very well on this. Recently I found I have a lot more gumption than I initially thought. I guess that just happens when you decide to focus on one aspect of yourself for an entire year. Regardless, to get anywhere in life you are required to have perseverance.

How Much Perseverance is Needed?

It’s never enough to just settle for the bare minimum, because then you’re overlooked by those that are giving more effort than you. If you’re wanting gainful employment in any industry, you need to prove to everyone that you are on a whole new level. The only way to do that is via discipline, determination and hard work mixed in with a little luck. Luck is the least important on that list, but I’ve always said ‘Luck is made by those that want it bad enough.’

My best friends usually get after me to have fun once in a while as I’m always working. I have to admit, I find it hard to have fun while I have so many good ideas. I want to test them out and see what the results are. You do need to relax, often at that, just make sure there is a balance. You aren’t going to get everything you dream of overnight. However you can achieve things that most people haven’t thought of if you put your mind to it. Creativity is Also Required

Creativity is the final thing you need for the technology industry. An outside-the-box mindset is essential for this field if you want success. Coming up with unique solutions to complex problems is the definition of innovation, so learn a lot. Things will seem as if they are insurmountable to you at first. If you break complex tasks into smaller, bite-sized chunks they become manageable. Take an application to keep track of a company’s memberships for an example. You need to track member signups, member payments, have a secure database and a myriad of other items. But if you focus on the login portion, then that can be done in a day or two. Take a similar approach to that for your goals and dreams.
